August 2017: As some of you have no doubt noticed, our website is badly in need of an update! We've been (as usual) really busy with renovating the Pieter Nieuwlandstraat 93-95, which we acquired at the end of 2014, and getting all the internal bureaucratic structures off the ground. We'll aim to get this website updated in the coming months. In the meantime, feel free to look at the various older articles on this site (all from the period 2014-2016), or to check out the website of the Pieter Nieuwlandstraat itself, which is https://nieuwland.cc/. Note that the various forms and emailing lists on this website are also outdated, please contact us at the email below if you want to get involved or know more.
In case you're wondering, and it's not clear from the rest of the information on the website: Woningbouwvereniging Soweto is the member-driven association which is the legal owner of the Pieter Nieuwlandstraat 93-95. The Pieter Nieuwlandstraat is the first acquisition by the association. In practice Soweto works closely with the Pieter Nieuwlandstraat. Some responsibilities fall more in the domain of Soweto (mortage, erfpacht, oversight of renovation budgets, other financial/real-estate aspects) while others are more in the domain of the Pieter Nieuwlandstraat (e.g. day-to-day running of the building, renovation and so on).
You can reach the board of Soweto via firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are interested in becoming a member of Soweto, or just want to know more about the association, then don't hesitate to email us.
